Ahri
The Nine-Tailed Fox
Innately connected to the magic of the spirit realm, Ahri is a fox-like vastaya who can manipulate her prey's emotions and consume their essence — receiving flashes of their memory with each soul she takes.
Ahri Overview
A mobile burst mage with unparalleled roam potential — the most-picked mid laner in Patch 26.15 with a 51.4% win rate at Emerald+.
Ahri is a mobile burst mage-assassin who dominates the mid lane through a combination of safe poke, devastating burst combos, and unmatched roam potential via her triple-dash ultimate. She is consistently one of the most picked champions in League — sitting at a 9.4% pick rate in mid lane at Emerald+ in Patch 26.15, the highest of any mid champion.
Her kit revolves around two axes: Charm (E), a targeted skillshot that causes enemies to walk helplessly toward her and amplifies all her damage by 20%, and Spirit Rush (R), a triple-dash ultimate that lets her reposition three times within 10 seconds — making her nearly impossible to lock down once ahead.
Her passive, Essence Theft, gives her passive healing from minion kills and much larger burst healing from champion kills — meaning a successful kill makes her nearly impossible to trade back against. Late game with high AP, a single Charm → Orb of Deception → Fox-Fire → Spirit Rush combo can delete a squishy target before they can react.
Abilities
Full breakdown with exact values — Patch 26.15. Charm is everything: land it first, then burst.
Essence Theft
Ahri gains a stack of Essence Theft on each minion or monster kill. After collecting 9 stacks, she consumes them and heals for 35–95 HP (+20% AP) based on level. This triggers automatically, making her extremely difficult to poke out of lane when she's farming.
Additionally, whenever Ahri participates in a champion kill, she gains a much larger burst of 80–250 HP based on level — making a successful kill virtually undo any poke damage she took in the trade.
Orb of Deception
Ahri sends out an orb in a line, dealing magic damage going out, then pulls it back to herself — dealing true damage on the return. The true damage is the key: it passes through magic resistance entirely, making the return hit exceptionally powerful against tanky targets.
This is Ahri's primary wave clear and poke tool. Landing both hits on an enemy champion is ideal — walk slightly toward the target so they are hit by both the outgoing orb and its return path. Hitting both significantly amplifies damage, especially in combination with an active Charm.
Fox-Fire
Ahri releases three spectral flames that orbit around her for 5 seconds, each one automatically attacking the nearest enemy. She also gains a brief burst of movement speed on activation. Flames prioritize champions over minions and deal magic damage per hit.
Fox-Fire is Ahri's strongest burst ability in melee range — if all three flames hit one target (which happens reliably when touching a champion), the burst is significant. Most effective during or immediately after landing a Charm, when the enemy is walking toward you and can't dodge.
Charm
Ahri blows a kiss in a line that charms the first enemy hit — causing them to walk harmlessly toward her for 1–2 seconds while being unable to act. The charmed enemy also takes 20% increased damage from all of Ahri's abilities for 6 seconds after being hit.
This is the most important ability in Ahri's kit. Landing Charm is the prerequisite for her entire burst combo — Charm → W (all flames hit) → Q both hits → R dash for execute. The 20% amplification makes each subsequent ability hit dramatically harder. Missing Charm in a trade typically means losing it.
Spirit Rush
Ahri dashes in the target direction and fires 3 Essence Bolts at nearby enemies (prioritizing champions), dealing magic damage per bolt. She can recast Spirit Rush up to 3 times within 10 seconds before it goes on cooldown — each cast firing 3 more bolts.
If Ahri scores a takedown within 3 seconds of damaging an enemy, Spirit Rush's charges and duration fully refresh, allowing her to keep dashing through teamfights indefinitely. This is what makes Ahri so difficult to shut down once ahead — a reset Spirit Rush can take her across the entire fight.

Build & Runes
Current meta builds — Patch 26.15. Two paths: Electrocute for burst, Summon Aery for safe poke.
Max Q first, then W, then E
Charm is the prerequisite — never waste it. Before using E, set up a guaranteed hit: walk into a brush to bait them forward, or wait for them to auto-attack a minion when their movement is momentarily committed. Missing Charm in a trade typically means losing it.
Optimal burst combo: W → E (Charm) → Q (forward hit + charmed enemy walks into return) → R dash 1 → Q again → R dash 2 for execute if needed. Activating W before Charm means all three flames land during the charm window automatically.
True damage: The return path of Q deals true damage — make sure both hits land on the target. Walk slightly past the enemy before casting so the orb returns through them.
Roaming with R: Ahri's triple dash makes her one of the best roamers in the game. After winning your lane trade, use R to reach bot or top faster than any other mid. Save at least one dash for escape if the gank goes wrong.
Best matchups 2026: Malzahar (52.3%), Viktor (50.6%). Hardest matchups: Locke (49.2%), Zed (49.5%) — consider banning one before locking Ahri.
Lore
From a spirit-touched fox of Ionia to a vastaya searching for her true self across Runeterra.
Unlike other foxes that roamed the woods of southern Ionia, Ahri had always felt a strange connection to the magical world around her — a connection that was somehow incomplete. Deep inside, she felt the skin she had been born into was an ill fit, and dreamt of one day becoming human.
Her goal seemed forever out of reach until she happened upon the aftermath of a human battle. Drawn to a dying mage whose life was slipping away, Ahri did what came naturally to her kind — she consumed his soul. But with it came something unexpected: flashes of his memories, his emotions, his entire life. Ahri was overwhelmed by feelings she had never experienced before.
With each subsequent soul she consumed, Ahri gained further insight into the lives of others — but also an increasingly heavy guilt for the harm she caused. She discovered she was a vastaya: a race of magical beings descended from an ancient union of humans and the spirit realm. Her fox form was her true nature, not a prison to escape from.
Now, rather than feeding on souls indiscriminately, Ahri travels across Runeterra in search of her ancestors' history — trying to understand what she is, where she comes from, and whether she can find a way to coexist with humanity without destroying what she touches. She grapples with every soul she's ever taken, haunted by flashes of their memories, trying to reconcile a predator's instincts with an increasingly human heart.
Ahri's story is one of identity and guilt — a being who was born into a nature she didn't choose, slowly learning to take ownership of who she is rather than who she was told to be.
