Summoner's Rift is a 5v5 asymmetrical battlefield. Blue team spawns bottom-left, Red team top-right. Three lanes connect the two bases — Top, Mid, and Bot — separated by two jungle halves and a river cutting diagonally across the map.

Key Locations

👑

The Nexus

Core Objective

The ultimate win condition. Destroy the enemy Nexus to end the game. Protected by Nexus Turrets and Inhibitor Turrets in all three lanes. Each Nexus generates minion waves every 30 seconds.

🛤️

Three Lanes

Main Routes

Top, Mid, and Bot lanes are the primary combat paths. Each has 3 turrets per team, connected by minion waves every 30s. Top is isolated, Mid has high roam access, Bot is a 2v2 with support.

🌲

The Jungle

Monster Camps

Two mirrored halves — Blue and Red side — filled with monster camps. The jungler farms here, ganks lanes, and secures objectives. Controlling the jungle means controlling the map.

🐉

Dragon Pit

Spawns 5:00

Bottom-side river. Elemental dragons spawn every 5 minutes after the first is slain. The dragon type is now shown in champion select. Four kills grants a Dragon Soul — a game-winning permanent buff.

🐍

Baron Nashor

Spawns 20:00

Top-side river pit. The most powerful objective on the map. Baron Buff empowers your team's minions and enables crushing base sieges. New 2026 Voidborn Baron mechanic — he grows stronger the longer teams delay.

🔥

Atakhan — NEW 2026

Spawns Mid-Game

The new 2026 epic monster. Atakhan, the Voracious, spawns mid-game in the river. He rewards the team with the most kills with a powerful buff. Fighting for him can swing the entire game momentum.

🌀

Rift Herald

Spawns 8:00

Top-side river. Drops Eye of Herald on death — a battering ram that annihilates turrets. Best used before 14:00 to capitalize on early turret gold advantages. Replaces mid-game pressure with Void Grubs early.

🌑

Void Grubs — 2026

Spawns 5:00

Six small Void creatures in the Baron pit before Rift Herald spawns. Each Grub kill stacks a buff that summons Void Mites to attack structures. Killing all six before 14:00 gives a massive siege advantage.

Rift Scuttler

Spawns 3:15

Appears in both river halves. Killing it reveals the Dragon or Baron through the terrain and creates a permanent Healing Shrine (until destroyed). The first Scuttler fight at 3:15 sets the early jungle narrative.

Blue Side vs Red Side

Summoner's Rift is not perfectly symmetric. Blue side has strategic advantages in certain objectives while Red side has different lane orientations. Side choice matters in competitive play.

◉ Blue Side

Blue Team

  • Spawns bottom-left. Better access to Dragon via Bot lane proximity.
  • Blue side picks last in champion select — a significant advantage in countering.
  • Top lane is closer to Baron pit, giving Blue top laner objective priority.
  • Camera perspective is naturally aligned toward the enemy base.
  • Mid lane angles favor roaming toward Dragon-side river.

◉ Red Side

Red Team

  • Spawns top-right. Bot lane is closer to Baron — allows more bottom-lane pressure on Herald.
  • Red side picks first in champion select — sets the draft narrative.
  • Red side camera angle is slightly harder to manage for newer players.
  • Red jungler has easier access to Scuttler on Dragon side early.
  • Top lane closer to Dragon when playing for cross-map plays.

Objective Timeline

Every minute of a League game has a scripted rhythm of spawning objectives. Knowing this timeline lets you plan rotations, vision, and fights before they happen.

⏱ 1:30 — Game Start

Jungle Camps Open

All six jungle camps become active: Blue Sentinel, Red Brambleback, Raptors, Wolves, Gromp, and Krugs. Junglers begin their clear path. Laners head to lane — invades happen 0:00 – 1:30 in high-elo.

⏱ 3:15 — First Scuttler

Rift Scuttler Spawns

The most contested early fight. Whoever controls first Scuttler controls early river vision and the Healing Shrine. Junglers race to finish their clear and arrive at the river with HP advantage. A won Scuttler fight converts to a first gank win ~70% of the time.

⏱ 5:00 — Void Grubs / Dragon

Epic Monsters Open

First Dragon spawns bot-side river — type is predetermined. Void Grubs spawn top-side Baron pit simultaneously. Both teams must decide: do we prioritize Dragon stacks or early Void Grub sieging power? This decision defines the early macro game in 2026.

⏱ 8:00 — Rift Herald

Eye of the Herald Spawns

First Rift Herald opens after Void Grubs are gone or expire. Killing Herald drops the Eye — a deployable battering ram that destroys turrets. Best used within the 8–14 minute window to snowball a turret advantage before Baron spawns.

⏱ ~14:00 — Atakhan

Atakhan the Voracious Spawns — NEW

Atakhan spawns mid-game in the river. He rewards the team with the most kills. Rampant Atakhan drops bonus item components; Ruinous Atakhan creates Roseguard wraiths. Fighting for Atakhan creates massive mid-game teamfight pressure.

⏱ 20:00 — Baron Nashor

Baron Spawns — Endgame Macro

The most powerful objective. Baron Buff empowers nearby minions and allows crushing base sieges. With the new 2026 Voidborn Baron mechanic, the longer teams delay Baron, the stronger he becomes — forcing decisive action. First Baron often determines the game winner.

All Dragon Types 2026

In 2026, the dragon sequence is predetermined before the game starts and shown in champion select. Knowing the drake order lets teams build around the Dragon Soul from the very first second.

🔥
Infernal Drake
+6% Bonus AD & AP per stack.
Soul: Proc true damage on abilities/attacks.
⛰️
Mountain Drake
+6% Armor & MR per stack.
Soul: Smash terrain on ability/attack proc.
🌊
Ocean Drake
Regen HP per 5 seconds per stack.
Soul: Massively increased out-of-combat regen.
💨
Cloud Drake
+3.5% Move speed per stack.
Soul: Reduces ultimate cooldown permanently.
Hextech Drake
+6% AS + 6 AH per stack.
Soul: Electro chain on abilities/attacks.
☣️
Chemtech Drake
+5% damage when below 50% HP per stack.
Soul: Temporary bonus when dying (Zomg buff).

Critical Ward Spots

Wards win games at every level of play. These are the highest-priority warding locations on Summoner's Rift — place them before every Dragon or Baron attempt.

01

Dragon Pit Entrance

Ward the Dragon pit entrance and river brush 60–90 seconds before Dragon spawns. Gives vision of enemies approaching for a steal.

02

Baron Pit Entrance

Place Control Ward inside Baron pit when your team isn't tanking it. Prevents blind smite steals and shows enemies approaching.

03

River Tri-Bushes

The mid-river brushes at both junctions are the highest-traffic gank corridors. Warding here reveals the jungler crossing rivers early.

04

Enemy Jungle Entrances

Deep wards in the enemy jungle near Blue/Red Buff camps reveal the jungler's position at all times — gold in information.

05

Lane Bushes (Top/Bot)

River brushes in the top and bot side lanes reveal incoming ganks. Support players should maintain vision here throughout laning phase.

06

Atakhan River Zones — NEW

New 2026 ward spots around the Atakhan spawn zone. Vision here is essential to track when enemies are moving to contest or delay the kill.

Objective Stat Sheet 2026

Rift Herald 8:00 6:00 Eye of Herald (tower ram) Medium
Atakhan — NEW ~14:00 N/A Rampant or Ruinous buff High
Baron Nashor 20:00 6:00 Baron Buff (empowered minions) Critical
Inhibitor Destroyable 5:00 Super Minions in that lane Critical
Turrets (×11 each) 1:30 Never Gold + map control High

Pro Map Tips

Macro

Prioritize Drake over Herald

In 2026, knowing the Dragon Soul type before the game starts lets you decide by pick/ban whether to stack drakes or race Void Grubs. A Chemtech or Infernal Soul often outvalues a Herald tower.

New 2026

Track Kill Score for Atakhan

Atakhan spawns on the side of the team with more kills — so fights that seem small in the early-mid game can determine whether Atakhan spawns in your favor. Don't let kills go to waste near his timer.

Objective Control

Ward 90 Seconds Early

Always place vision around Baron and Dragon 90 seconds before they spawn, not 10 seconds. Early wards let you spot rotating enemies and react rather than react to a lost fight.

Vision

Sweep Before Every Baron

Buy a Control Ward every back. Before Baron, sweep the pit with an Oracle Lens. A single enemy ward inside the pit can cost you a Smite steal that decides the game.

Minimap

Minimap Every 5 Seconds

The most impactful skill for every ELO. Glance at the minimap every 5 seconds. A missing enemy top laner with Teleport is a Baron or Dragon — you must know before it's too late to contest.

Dragon Soul

Never Ignore the 4th Drake

Three drakes is strong; four drakes is a Dragon Soul that can win teamfights alone. If your team has 3 stacks, defend the map around that spawn at all costs — do not give it away for a Baron.
