Aurora Champion Guide
Aurora is a Freljordian vastaya and spirit-world witch who can see and interact with spirits that most people cannot perceive. In-game, she is a ranged mage/assassin whose strength comes from weaving movement, magic damage and spirit-powered mobility together.

Aurora Abilities
Aurora's kit is built around interacting with spirits, moving through the spirit realm, and controlling enemy movement. Her abilities reward timing, positioning and repeated spell-and-attack patterns rather than simply standing still and casting everything at once.
Spirit Abjuration
Aurora's spells and attacks exorcise spirits from enemies she damages. The spirits follow Aurora, healing her and providing a movement-speed benefit through her Spirit Mode.
Twofold Hex
Aurora sends out a magical curse that damages and marks enemies. She can recast it to draw the active curses back toward herself, creating a second damaging pass that rewards good timing and positioning.
Across the Veil
Aurora leaps in a chosen direction and enters the spirit realm, becoming invisible for a short duration. The ability gives her a valuable repositioning and escape tool and can reset on takedown.
The Weirding
Aurora releases spirit magic in a line while hopping backward. The spell damages and slows enemies, helping her create space or control a target's movement.
Between Worlds
Aurora opens a rift that blends the spirit and material realms. Enemies inside are damaged, slowed and constrained within the zone, while Aurora can move around the area and use the boundary to reposition.
Aurora Build
Aurora generally wants ability power, ability haste and enough defensive or utility value to survive long enough to complete her spell rotations. Exact item choices are patch- and matchup-sensitive.
Starting Items
Use a standard mage opening when playing Aurora in mid lane, adapting the early purchase around poke, sustain and the opposing matchup.
Core Direction
Prioritize ability power and useful spell uptime. Aurora benefits from items that let her threaten repeated spell rotations while retaining enough survivability to reposition.
Situational Items
Adjust later purchases for enemy burst, magic resistance, crowd control and frontline durability. Defensive choices can be valuable when Aurora must enter the middle of a fight to use her ultimate.
Aurora Runes
Aurora's rune setup should support her preferred trading pattern, burst windows and ability uptime. The best page can change with the matchup and current balance environment.
Primary Rune Direction
Choose a damage-focused setup when the lane allows Aurora to trade and scale into repeated spell rotations.
Secondary Runes
Use secondary choices to cover sustain, movement, ability uptime or other weaknesses exposed by the lane matchup.
Rune Adaptation
Do not treat one rune page as permanent. Enemy range, crowd control, burst and team composition can all change the value of individual choices.
Aurora Skill Order
| Ability | Priority | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Q — Twofold Hex | Primary | Main repeatable damage and trading tool. |
| W — Across the Veil | Secondary | Improves mobility and spirit-realm access while adding tactical repositioning. |
| E — The Weirding | Utility | Provides damage, slow and spacing control. |
| R — Between Worlds | Ultimate | Level whenever available. |
Best Aurora Combos
Use Twofold Hex to apply the curse, then recast when the enemy is in a position where the returning energy can connect for additional damage.
Use Across the Veil to reposition or approach safely, follow with Twofold Hex and use The Weirding to create distance while slowing the target.
Between Worlds can restrict movement and create a controlled fighting area. Follow with Q damage and E to slow or create space.
Use Across the Veil to enter a better angle, then cast Between Worlds to establish the fight zone. Use the ultimate's boundary movement to keep control of the area.
How to Play Aurora
Aurora is strongest when she can repeatedly cast spells while staying difficult to pin down. Avoid committing before enemy engage tools are understood.
Twofold Hex is central to Aurora's trading pattern. Look for angles where both the outgoing and returning damage can matter.
Across the Veil is valuable for entering, escaping and repositioning. Avoid wasting it when an enemy can immediately punish your landing.
Between Worlds is strongest when enemies have limited room to move and your team can capitalize on the controlled area.
Aurora's passive rewards repeated contact with enemies. Keep moving through fights so your spirit-powered bonuses continue to support your next spell rotation.
Aurora Mid Lane Guide
Aurora's primary lane identity is built around ranged magic damage, mobility and controlled burst. Her lane plan is to create safe spell windows and then use movement to maintain pressure.
Lane Phase
Use Q to pressure the wave and trade without overcommitting. Preserve W when the opponent can punish an aggressive step forward.
Mid Game
Look for rotations where Aurora can arrive from an unexpected angle. Vision and wave control make her roaming and objective setups safer.
Teamfights
Do not rush into the center without a plan. Use R to define the fighting area, then combine Q, E and W movement to keep dealing damage while avoiding return fire.
Aurora Counters & Difficult Matchups
Aurora can struggle when opponents deny her movement, outrange her or punish her before she completes a spell rotation. Matchup strength can change after balance patches.
Hard Engage
Champions that can lock Aurora down before she uses W can punish aggressive positioning. Track crowd-control cooldowns before committing.
Long-Range Poke
Heavy poke can make it harder for Aurora to find comfortable spell windows. Use wave position and movement carefully rather than taking repeated free damage.
Burst & Lockdown
Fast burst or reliable crowd control can punish Aurora if she enters a fight without W available. Positioning and cooldown tracking are especially important.
Best Team Synergy for Aurora
Frontline & Peel
Durable allies can create space for Aurora to cast repeatedly and enter fights without being the first target.
Reliable Crowd Control
Allies who hold enemies in place can make Aurora's Q, E and R much easier to land and can create strong follow-up opportunities.
Objective Control
Teams that can contest space around objectives give Aurora better environments for Between Worlds and her area-control strengths.

Aurora Lore
Aurora is a Bryni vastaya from the Freljord who was born with the unusual ability to see and interact with the spirit realm. Her curiosity about spirits eventually became the central purpose of her life.
Aurora grew up in the secluded village of Aamu and spent much of her childhood interacting with spirits that other people could not see. Her great aunt Havu encouraged her curiosity, helping Aurora become comfortable with the unusual world she experienced.
As Aurora's research expanded, she discovered that some spirits had become wayward after losing their balance and connection to the world around them. Her determination to understand and help these spirits led her beyond Aamu and into the wider Freljord.
During her travels she encountered a twisted spirit connected to the demigod Hestrelk, later known as Haestryr. Her search for answers eventually brought her to Ornn and deeper into the ancient spiritual history of the Freljord.
Aurora's story is therefore closely tied to the relationship between the material and spirit realms, the Freljord's demigods and her ongoing attempt to help a troubled spirit find its identity again.
